Knit Stitch
1st Row Variations and The Knit Stitch
There are a few ways to put stitches into your cast on row. I've shown you two of them in this video, be sure to watch the CASTING OFF video in the other lesson to compare how the stitch variations look in comparison with the cast off.
The Knit Stitch
Whether you're knitting using your arms or flat on a table the knit stitch is always the same. You'll need top open up the stitch you want to knit and pull the working yarn from the back of the loop you've opened up to the front of the loop.
TIP
The opposite side of a knit stitch is a purl stitch. Some people prefer one or the other to face them when knitting, so find out what's comfortable for you.
Here's what a basic blanket looks like.
